Depends on what category you're looking at:excitement: ER or trauma (downside: stress and burnout!)money: Ophthalmology (downside: you only know about eyes!)job security: Primary care (downside: you just don't get paid enough to listen to drug addicts and hypochondriacs)family life: dermatology (downside: how many wrinkles and zits do you really want to see in your lifetime?)

my opinion? i think it's cardiology cause it deals and helps a lot of people with all heart problems. but i guess the hardest one is oncology since they deal with cancers.

I'd say Psychiatry. You would not believe the number of troubled people in our society. You may not see the problems but many many people are unhappy and suffer considerably as well as affecting those around them.

It depends on your personality. I have a short attention span and get bored easily, so Emergency Medicine works great for me.always something new flying at me. I'd be a terrible retina surgeon.I have friends who like to take one problem at a time and keep working on it until they get it perfect--they make great Cardiologists, but would be disasters in the ER.
