which is the difference between a ganglion and a lymph node?

as I have already received 4 answers and two of them speak about a lymph node I麓ll thank you to explain me the difference; because the doctor talked about a ganglion and not about a lymph node .
Answers:
Usually in anatomy a ganglion is nerve tissue, a lump of cells from which nerves originate (trigeminal ganglion, for example). A visible or palpable ganglion is not something you encounter regularly, in contrast with lymph nodes. If you are absolutely certain that it is indeed a nerve ganglion, you should further investigate its causes. Palpable nerve tissue may be seen in familial diseases like von Recklinghausen syndrome (neurofibromatosis) or other diseases like amyloidosis. Depending on location and size it may also be a benign nerve tissue tumor. All of these are very rare and I wouldn't worry about it. HOWEVER: some doctors use the term ganglion to refer to swollen lymph nodes (as in lymphatic ganglion, see page below). I also think that the term ganglion is used to refer to lymph nodes in other languages, i.e. french. The rough meaning of the word "ganglion" (greek) is "knot" which is appropriate for both nerve tissue (typical usage) and some times for other tissue types. In that sense, ganglion refers to how it looks/feels, not to what it actually is.Finally, there is another type of ganglion that occurs in joints. As an example, several people, typists, for example, have a wrist ganglion from overuse of the hands. I do believe that in this case the terms were used interchangeably and your doctor really meant lymph node. Typically, the above posters are correct, ganglion is (usually) nerve tissue and is not a lymph node.
ganglion is a small collection of nerves, sometimes the equivalent of a brain in some simpler organisms, a lymph node is a collection of lymph tissue filled with lymph fluid that is a required part of your immune system.
the above answer is correct
first answer is precise . thats enugh to get basic idea.
A ganglion is a collection of cell bodies outside of the brain and spinal cord and is part of the nervous system. A lymph node is a collection of connective tissue filled with white blood cells that acts as a filter of bacteria and other pathogens. It acts a little like a garbage collector and is part of the immune system.
