"In general we observe more cases of Hypothyroidism (Thryotoxicosis, Grave's disease) - qualittee"I'm afraid I'm going to have to correct you there Dr..Thyrotoxicos and Graves disease is a result of HYPERthyriodism not HYPOthyriod! To answer your question..hypothryriod (under-active, slow heart rate, metabalism) is more common and less serious than hyperthyriod. I should know as I had Graves (hyperthyriod)Here is a good link for you:

active
over.
My aunt had a thyroid problem, and as far as I know, her doctor told her that hers was common. she had over-active thyroid
overactive thyroid
Underactive thyroid and is the most common thyroid disorder.
I believe it has to be underactive d/t the amt of overweight people - and overactive do not stay that way long because of how bad they feel
over active
Underactive or Hypothyroidism is more common. This condition occurs due to reduced secretion of Thyroxine hormone which plays a pivotal role in our body metabolism. A blood panel test constituting T3,T4 %26 TSH will provide an accurate idea.Hypothyroidism is one of the main reasons for obesity. Many of the Type II diabetics also develop during ther course of the disease. Thyroxine supplemnt (oral) can help this cproblem whrn prescribed by a qualified physician.Hyperthyroidism is quite rare.

In general we observe more cases of Hypothyroidism (Thryotoxicosis, Grave's disease) because it also includes neonates and children. Overactive Thyroid gland (Hyperthyroidism) is almost unheard of in the younger age group. Some children are born with Thyroid deficiency and therefore have a stunted growth of mind and body called Cretinism. They are also included in the overall epidemiology of the disease. In adult population women suffer more from Thyroid disorders (both over active and underactive states) than their male counterparts. In clinical practise I have seen more patients of Hypothyroidism than the hyperactive state.
under active.
over active
By the number of people on replacement therapy, I would say under active.
under active thyroid.
what is a tyroid? my sister has an under-active tyroid
Under active thyroids are much more common than over active!
However, any kind of thyroid problem is far more common in a woman than a man!
Over active. I think. I had one, so I only hope it is. And to the person who said you only put weight on with under active, you are wrong. I put on a lot of weight taking th pills, and I am still trying to lose it. I could tell you the symptoms too, but not enough time.
If everbody had an over-active thyroid, productivity in the workplace would increase significantly. I see what your driving at.
hypothyroidism is much more common.
over active
under, that is the reason most people are over weight. not enough harmons are produced to keep the body burning the fat cells.
